I’ve already got an online donation page (Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving) so what’s the point of setting up a Guess2Give page?

  • Guess2Give will help you raise more money by engaging your wider social network with a low barrier to participate (just £3), tap in to their natural competitive spirit and give them a chance to win the cash prize.
  • Guess2Give has been designed to work alongside existing online donation channels, not instead of them. We encourage you to set-up on online donation page well ahead of your event to encourage close friends & family to support you typically with larger donations. Then when you set-up your Guess2Give page a few weeks before your event, you’ll give friends, family & colleagues from their wider social network another chance to support you & a chance to win the cash prize.

Why can’t I progress past the account registration page?

  • First, there’s a security checkpoint to verify your email address.  An email with a 5 digit security code is sent to the email address you entered on the form and you need to enter this into the box that appears on your screen after you clicked ‘verify email’.
  • Second, Guess2Give is required by law to perform an identity check to ensure everyone that uses the site is over 18 and a UK resident.  A third party supplier first checks the electoral role followed by credit reference agencies (this is not recorded on your credit reference) to verify your identity.  If the third party cannot verify your identity by these methods you will be asked to enter your driving licence or passport.  If none of these checks prove your identity then we are sorry but you cannot be permitted to use Guess2Give. If you believe the outcome of the identity checks is incorrect, please contact:
    NetIDme Limited
    Nasmyth Building
    SE Technology Park
    East Kilbride,
    Glasgow, G75 0QR

How much can people win on my page?

  • There’s the fun… the more guesses made, the bigger the prize.
  • There’s no limit. Nobody knows just how big the final prize fund will be!
  • 50p from every guess goes in to the event prize fund so the more guesses made, the bigger the prize (and the more money goes to charity).
  • Make sure you send it to all your friends, put it on Facebook, Twitter or your blog and watch the prize fund grow!

Why does Guess2Give need to verify my email address?

  • To ensure no-one sets up an account with an email address that is not theirs as this could be used for fraudulent activity.

Why does Guess2Give need to check my personal details?

  • Guess2Give is required by law to perform an identity check to ensure everyone that uses the site is over 18 and a UK resident.

Do I have to know the people who make a guess on my page?

  • No. Anyone make a guess on anyone’s page and if your page gets to be one of the highest prize funds, we’ll promote it on the home page so more people will guess and make more for your charity.

Why can’t my friend find my Guess2Give page?

  • They might have entered your name incorrectly, or maybe you have used a nickname for your page.
  • Email your friend a direct-link to your fundraising page, which you can locate in your fundraising page confirmation email. Or find your page and copy and paste the link into an email.

Why can’t my friend pay by credit card?

Credit cards are NOT currently accepted on Guess2Give. It can cost your friends more to make a credit card payment than a debit card payment, because the credit card issuers consider this type of payment a cash advance. We also think it’s important that people don’t go into debt when using Guess2Give. For these reasons we do not accept credit cards.

Can I see who has made a guess on my sweepstake?

To prevent fraudulent activity on each sweepstake you can’t currently see all the guesses made but we are working with our lawyers to bring this in to a future development release.

Can friends make a donation without making a guess?

  • No. They must make at least one guess and then they can make an extra donation as part of the payment process.
  • A bonus of using Guess2Give is that we take zero, nada, nothing at all from the extra donation.  The only payment we have to take is the credit card fee, which is passed directly to the credit card provider.

Can friends make a guess without making a donation?

  • Yes, but we, and we’re sure you, would rather they gave their support in the form of a donation.

How does the winner receive their winnings?

  • When someone wins, we send them an email.
  • It will contain a link to the Guess2Give website where they will be asked to enter the full name on the bank account that they want the winnings to be paid to, along with sort code and account number.  They will not be asked for any other details.
  • Once we receive their bank details we will pay their winnings within 10 working days.

How long will it take for the winner to receive their winnings?

  • Once the winner has completed their bank details on the Guess2Give site, they will receive their winnings within 10 working days.

How will everyone who made a guess know if they’ve won or not?

  • Once the person who setup the Guess2Give page has entered the end result of their event, we will send an email to everyone who made a guess informing them if they won or not.

Can Guess2Give put the winnings onto the card the winner paid for their guess(es) with?

  • No. Some credit/debit cards do not allow this and some incur high charges. To ensure as much money as possible can be given to charities it is a simpler and more cost effective option to pay winnings direct to the winners bank account.

Can I cancel/suspend my account?

  • Yes. Once you have logged in to your account there is an option called ‘suspend my account’.  In this area you can suspend your account for a period between six months and five years.
  • If they wish to cancel their account with Guess2Give they need to simply email support@guess2give.com requesting that their account be cancelled.

Can I make a complaint?

  • Yes. Once you have logged in to your account, there is an option called ‘make a complaint’. Go to this section and provide the details of your complaint.
  • As a member of the Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB) and the Institute of Fundraising, we follow their Codes of Fundraising Practice and comply with the key principles embodied in the Codes. To read more about the complaints process or to make a complaint please click here.

Can the winner donate their winnings to a charity?

  • Yes. When the winner is asked to complete their bank details they will be given the option to give all or some of their winnings to the charity that was chosen by the person who set-up the event.

What do I do as my event isn’t in the Guess2Give events list?

  • We’ve attempted to add as many of the main events in the UK to the list for you to choose from, but it isn’t possible to add every single one.
  • On step 2 of setting up your event, you will be asked if you want to set-up your own event, or choose one from the list.  Simple select ‘own event’ and add your event details.

Why can’t I find my charity in the Guess2Give list?

  • We need to have a signed contract with every charity and we are asking every charity to sign up to Guess2Give.  There are approximately 160,000 charities in the UK so we haven’t got a contract with every one, yet.
  • If your charity isn’t on the list, please can send them an email asking them to be part of Guess2Give (which is free to join and no on-going fees). You can also send us an email here and we will contact them on your behalf.

Can I set-up my page for more than one charity?

  • No. At present you can only set-up an event for the benefit of one charity.

What if someone doesn’t guess the exact result of my event?

  • Not a problem as the system will choose the person who guessed closest, so there’s always a winner.
  • If there are two guesses exactly the same distance from the end result then the lowest guess is always selected.

What happens if I don’t start or complete my event?

  • The prize fund and all donations are passed directly on to the charity. In the terms and conditions we state that if an event is classified as a DNF (Does Not Finish), which also includes an event not happening for any reason, then the prize fund and the all donations are passed directly to the charity… so the charity is the winner.

What happens if someone tries to cheat?

  • We know that the majority of people are fair and trustworthy and that to cheat family and friends is highly unlikely. We also think that the number of people that would be willing to commit fraud in order to win a small prize fund is very small, but we have externally audited systems in place to identify any possible fraudulent (cheating) activity.
  • We do not want to outline the systems we have in place (for security purposes) but if anyone is identified as cheating then they will have their account suspended, be blocked from using Guess2Give in the future and be reported to the Gambling Commission and Police.
  • In addition, the prize fund will NOT be paid to the winner. The chosen charity for the event will receive all of the prize fund and the donations.
