How much can people win?

  • There’s the fun… the more guesses made, the bigger the prize and the more money goes to your charity.
  • Nobody knows just how big the final prize fund will be, and best of all there’s no limit!
  • 50p from every guess goes in to the event prize fund so the more guesses made, the bigger the prize and the more money goes to your charity.

Why can’t one of our fundraisers progress past the account registration page?

  • First, there’s a security checkpoint to verify their email address.  An email with a 5 digit security code is sent to the email address they entered on the form and they need to enter this into the box that appears on the screen after they clicked ‘verify email’.
  • Second, Guess2Give is required by law to perform an identity check to ensure everyone that uses the site is over 18 and a UK resident.  A third party supplier first checks the electoral role followed by credit reference agencies (this is not recorded on people’s credit reference) to verify their identity.  If the third party cannot verify their identity by these methods they are asked to enter a driving licence or passport.  If none of these checks prove their identity then we do not allow people to use Guess2Give. If you believe the outcome of the identity checks is incorrect, please contact:

Do guessers have to know the person to make a guess on their page?

  • No. Anyone can make a guess on anyone’s page and the pages with the highest prize fund are promoted on the home page to encourage more people to guess. Because of this, it is not the size of the charity that gets the page promoted on the home page, but the size of the prize fund giving every charity the same chance.

Why can’t I find someone’s Guess2Give page?

  • You might have entered their name incorrectly, or maybe they have used a nickname for their page.
  • If you can’t find them on the site, you can ask them to send you a direct link to their fundraising page.

Can people make a donation without making a guess?

  • No. Guessers must make at least one guess and then they can make an extra donation as part of the payment process that Guess2Give takes nothing from.
  • A bonus of using Guess2Give is that we take zero, nada, nothing at all from the extra donation.  The only payment we have to take is the credit card fee, which is passed directly to the credit card provider.

One of our supporters can’t find the page that they set-up?

  • If they have completed the set-up of a page they will have received a confirmation email and it will be shown in the My Account section. If the user clicks’ View current event’, all their events will be shown in there.  If it is not shown, there may have been an error during set-up and they may need to set the event up again.
  • They can also check their email history for the event set-up confirmation from Guess2Give. If they don’t have one, there may well have been an error during set-up and they may need to set the event up again.

Can people make a guess without making a donation?

  • Yes. We this is a legal requirement as we cannot force anyone to make a donation to play the game so they have to have the option to opt-out.
  • When a guesser gets to the confirmation page they can remove the donation element of the guess, although we encourage people to donate.

Can Guess2Give put winnings onto the card that the person made their guess(es) with?

  • No. Some credit/debit cards do not allow this and some incur high charges. To ensure as much money as possible can be given to charities it is a simpler and more cost effective option to pay winnings direct to a bank account.

What if someone doesn’t guess the exact result of the event?

  • Not a problem as the system will choose the person who guessed closest, so there’s always a winner.
  • If there are two guesses exactly the same distance from the end result then the lowest guess is always selected.

The event didn’t happen so does everyone get their money back?

  • The prize fund and all donations are passed directly on to the charity. In the terms and conditions we state that if an event is classified as a DNF (Does Not Finish), which also includes an event not happening for any reason, then the prize fund and the all donations are passed directly to the charity… so the charity is the winner.

What happens if someone tries to cheat?

  • We know that the majority of people are fair and trustworthy and that to cheat family and friends is highly unlikely. We also think that the number of people that would be willing to commit fraud in order to win a small prize fund is very small, but we have externally audited systems in place to identify any possible fraudulent (cheating) activity.
  • We do not want to outline the systems we have in place (for security purposes) but if anyone is identified as cheating then they will have their account suspended, be blocked from using Guess2Give in the future and be reported to the Gambling Commission and Police.
  • In addition, the prize fund will NOT be paid to the winner. The chosen charity for the event will receive all of the prize fund and the donations.
